This is a tumblog dedicated to Christopher Nolan and his various works of genius in film.
Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
REBLOGGING FOR TRUTHA couple of months ago I went to a seminar on Inception at the DGA, and a Q & A after with Chris Nolan. Without prompting from anyone, he said he believes that film is superior to any of the digital imaging options out there and intends to use it exclusively (except for what he does with CGI, of course). He explained that he wants to get the best possible 2-D image on screen, which is why he has tried so hard to use original IMAX to the fullest extent possible. He also said he has no interest in 3-D.
This is from a longer article by a guy developing something called MaxiVision48, which is basically REALLY FUCKING AWESOME FILM STOCK, and which the studios are declining to fund the development of because they’re ~convinced~ that digital is the future despite the fact that it can’t touch film in terms of real quality. It’s actually a really interesting article and if you’re at all interested in the technical aspects of film v. digital I highly recommend reading it - here.
But also I am posting this because LADIES AND GENTLEMAN CHRISTOPHER FUCKING NOLAN WINS AT FILMMAKING FOREVER AND I ADORE HIM.
I saw Inception 5 times, 3...you guys. It was better than any Avatar or Toy Story 3D...
